Satan’s Spam

IMG_1234     Today, I want to take a moment to talk about Spam.  I grew up in the era when Spam first appeared on the scene many decades ago.  Back then Spam referred to a trademark canned meat product consisting primarily of chopped pork pressed into a loaf. Such a novelty then.  I have not visited that form of Spam in quite some time!

However, of late I have been inundated with the Spam of this day and age, referring to junk e-mail. My quest to set up my new site found me knee deep in Spam comments and forced to secure Spam protection. (Sometimes I miss you Blogger.) Though for some reason I could never receive comments on my old sites, these were not the desired comments either.

The past few weeks, aside from my computer, I have been receiving Spam from another source…Satan.  He has been intent on keeping me off balance in my walk with the Lord as he whispers Spam of his own making in my ear. His junk messages attempt to discourage me, distract me from my purpose, and steal my peace.

Spam protection in this case cannot be purchased, but instead prayed for and found in God’s word, The Bible.  And just as my purchased Spam protection works for me 24/7, I must be as decidedly vigilant in keeping  Satan’s Spam at bay, especially if I want to live out God’s purpose in my life.  The more steps taken toward that goal, the closer Satan nips at my heel.

Let me add that in my case, lack of rest due to late nights honing my computer knowledge, getting this website up and going have left me at risk. My self-induced tired and overwhelmed state has left me more vulnerable than usual.  Instead of pacing myself and walking through this transition in God’s time, I had taken the reigns and run myself into the ground. “Stay alert!  Watch out for your great enemy the devil.  He prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”  (1 Peter 5:8) God’s timing is always best!

Align yourself with Jesus today, His plan, His purpose, His timing and watch the content in your life’s Spam folder be nipped in the bud!  To God Be The Glory!
