Have you ever had one of those days, even seasons of life when you feel as though Satan is riding your coat-tail and you are wading in oppression. Wow, I know that sounds heavy, but this is for those who do know where I am coming from. “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)

Those times are difficult especially when you when you know you are striving faithfully to live your life for the Lord. This verse from Hebrews 12 is a perfect reminder to “not grow weary and lose heart” in these times remembering that Jesus has stood against opposition that far exceeds anything we will ever experience.

Knowing this, I have two approaches to these situations when they arise. The first is to simply speak the name of Jesus. Satan must admit his defeat to the power and authority of Jesus Christ. My second approach involves thanksgiving…thanks for his protection, thanks for His presence in the midst of the difficult circumstances, thanks for the how he will use whatever it is to draw me into a closer relationship with Him.

I freely admit that sometimes the circumstance takes me so off guard that my optimum response as mentioned in the last paragraph is delayed. However, God knows that I am human and understands this. Perhaps these suggestions are some that can be put to use immediately in your life. Maybe you can file this away to pull from when those difficult times do come.

Never hesitate to go before the throne and receive the help that God, who understands our pain, has to offer to any who calls upon Him. “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, that we may receive mercy and grace to help us in our time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16) You are not meant to walk through this life alone. He is always a whisper away. and, praise God this world is not our home. The promise of heaven awaits us when God will wipe all tears away from our eyes. “And God shall wipe all tears away from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:4)

However, today I would like to leave you with this song by the Browders entitled “Fall On My Knees.” My husband played this song for me at the precise moment I needed to hear it.
