The world in which we live has left us with two very clear choices.  My pastor spoke this recently and I want to share it with you. The choices…light or darkness. To further define these choices, darkness is clearly to live in and follow the ways of this world, living for self, partaking of things and living a lifestyle not glorifying Christ.

The life of “light” is the Great Commission led existence as outlined in Matthew 28:16-20:

“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Satan has made it extremely easy to fall into the darkness. A compromise here and one there along with the observation that “everyone else is doing it” draws us closer and deeper into the darkness. There are no expectations of excellence for the Lord there, and our relationship with Him falters. Before we know it the lines are blurred and we justify our wrongs by loosely applying the grace of God to our actions without the necessary repentance and turning back to Him.

The Great Commission led life calls for commitment, for a love of God and others that leads you into action for Him, that teaches through word and example. Now is the time for our light, our witness to shine in the world. The darkness is creeping in. If Jesus returned today, where would He find your standing. “But of that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. Take heed, keep on the alert; for you do not know when the appointed time will come.… (Mark 13:32) Stand in the light. Take courage and be the light! Jesus is with us always! To God Be the Glory!
