Bed Bugs, Butterflies and Jesus

IMG_0825Now let me explain that title! Where do I start…? Two months ago I began having what I thought was a rash of some unknown origin.  Blood tests for what could have been serious diseases and skin biopsies were performed.  Medicines were taken. This went on for two months. Then God used a short vacation from home to help me find the answer…BED BUGS! EEK!!!

There is no way I can tell you how freaked out and relieved I was simultaneously.  I had an answer and a battle ahead all at the same time. For the sake of brevity, I will say that my husband and I have spent exhausting hours over the course of the last three weeks to eradicate the bugs.  If only I had a nickel for every time someone said to me, “I’ve heard bed bugs are really hard to get rid of!” Well, they are but…IMG_0877

Then there are all the things that had to be thrown away and the cost of replacement.  Still I thanked God that I finally had an answer. The terrible whelps and itching have stopped with eradication, and I am so thankful that I was able to cancel the three medial appointments I had set up with other specialists to find the cause. God is so good!

Now let me share with you how He blessed me with a “God Wink” in the midst of the whole debacle. With the Terminix representative sitting at my kitchen table discussing options with my husband and me still hauling things out of the house, motion around my butterfly bush caught my attention.

Folks, there were FIFTEEN monarch butterflies feasting on the flowers of one bush. There were so many I could hear their wings flapping as I drew closer. I had four monarchs at the most last year as they migrated south. Definite God wink! Of course, I stopped what I was doing and took my usual two hundred plus photographs. And a smile that had been missing from my face for several days returned despite the extreme fatigue! Jesus gave me a moment of escape to carry me through.

“No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through it. (1 Corinthians 10:13)IMG_0891

The beautiful truth of this story is no matter what the situation, either good or bad, when examined closely you will be able to see Jesus and how God truly works all things together for our good, your good, as stated in Romans 8:28…even bedbugs!  Wake up each day looking to see where He is working and follow in His steps. God has a plan for your life, a purpose, a very good purpose! To God Be the Glory!

**Thanks to those of you who haven’t given up on me during the absence of posts. Vacation, bed bugs, and a sick mom have kept me very busy.  As always, thanks for reading!  God bless!

It is so wonderful to be REAL as you stated in one of your previous posts. Thank you for sharing this struggle. So often we perceive the person on these blogs as ‘free from problems.’ However, that is not true. Thank you sharing! I love, love your photos!
