Whew! I am writing this on a Wednesday after getting off work. We all know how we feel about Wednesdays, like YAY…it’s almost Friday! At this point we just want the next couple of days to fly by and then…the WEEKEND!! A stop at the grocery store on the way home changed my mind about the “rushing time” a bit.

The store front faces west, and the picture above was what I saw as I checked out. The teenage girl scanning my groceries probably thought I was crazy when I said, “I bet you get to see the most beautiful sunsets.” She stopped, looked and said an unconvincing, “Oh, yeah.” I could not take my eyes off the sky as I loaded my groceries in the car.

Every reason for not taking this picture screamed at me as I pulled out my phone. There were cars, power lines, and light poles. However, the beauty beyond the cluttered scene simply had to be captured. God had painted yet another masterpiece that needed to be chronicled and enjoyed to the fullest.

Now let me ask you what have you rushed past today on your way to Friday? God has tailor-made blessings that He packs in the lunch box of your life each day. We just forget to slow down enough to enjoy what’s inside that lunch box. There are sunsets, whispers to our hearts from God’s Word, there are people who need a smile, there are smiling babies and cute puppies! I could go on. Just think of what makes you smile and it’s probably inside. Slow down and open your lunch box! Be blessed!

(Numbers 6:24-26) “The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
