A Tribute to God and a Godly Woman

forsythiaThis week I had the honor of holding the hand of Noverta Williams as she was slipping from the confines of her earthly body into eternity with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Noverta was like a mother to me, a gift special gift God knew I would need on this earth. She changed my first diapers, sang me to sleep for naps, and loved me like I was her own. Singing was a gift God gave Noverta that she shared not only with me but with her friends and church.  That is why I felt the need for those of us in the room to sing for her when she could no longer speak but could still hear us.  So we sang “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art.”

When we finished, I said, “Now, Noverta, that is the best we can do. I know you could have done better than that!”  She opened her eyes, nodded and smiled the same ear to ear smile as when I leaned over her upon entering the room and whispered, “Noverta, it’s Amy.”  What a gift she gave me with that smile that will stay with me until I see her again in Heaven.

Upon receiving the call of her passing, I could envision Noverta donning her robes of white and stepping right into the heavenly choir joining in songs of praise at the foot of the throne of God with a smile that transcends any we have seen on this earth.

I celebrate her life with this song.  Please take the time to listen. The message of this post is not my loss but this song which is sung not only in English but in the native language of other Christians.  The smiles of the children singing brings me to tears. The display of uninhibited worship draws me in. May this song bring you into a place of worship and praise for our Heavenly Father. How He loves to hear our praises! Listen to the love and passion for Christ that exists in all translations. Give Him the glory and honor He deserves. You can even sing along!  To God Be the Glory Always, Forever and Ever Amen!!
