My last few days have been spent encouraging my mother, Faye Parker, during a hospital stay that has included surgery and the discovery of several health issues of which she had no prior knowledge. My step-father who has Alzheimer’s Disease is presently recovering from a fractured ankle in a rehab setting. Today my mom was ready to give up. She wanted to die.
To some extent we have all been there…knee deep in problems and trials and ready to give up. In our most overwhelmed, disheartened moments when our faith wavers, Satan dances with joy because he has stolen ours. The God has something to say about this in His Word, The Bible.
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6)
There now, Satan! You can’t compete with the constant presence of God in our lives. There is not a problem which arises that surprises God. Not a question that He doesn’t already know the answer to. Faith is our anchor in these storms of life. No time like the present to do some faith building exercises in our lives for when these storms blow in!
“What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.” (Psalm 56:3)
I learned this verse as a child when I was in Sunday School…short, easy to remember. I have used it all through my life. Claim it for wherever you are and in whatever situation you find yourself today. To God Be the Glory!
