A Sense of Direction…Heaven!

Granted, this is not the highest quality picture, but I was compelled to stop my car in the middle of the street to capture it. This dog was fixated on whatever it was he had chased up this tree. I was amazed as I sat there and watched him for several minutes. He was not distracted by my presence, never moving a muscle. He never took his eyes off the prize, which for him I believe was a squirrel. He had obviously been well-trained by his master.FullSizeRender

His relentless, upward gaze made the promise of heaven suddenly wash over me. On the worst of days, when life overtakes me, I have been training myself to look past the problems of this life and its distractions and focus my thoughts on Heaven. Oh, what a glorious eternity awaits those of us who have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour.

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:4)

In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? (John 14:2)

But, as it is written,”What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9)

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. (Colossians 3:1-4)

My friends, does it not flood you with joy to ponder eternity in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ…to see Him face to face. That will eclipse any aspect including mansions prepared for us and streets of gold! The trials, pain, sickness, and sorrow of this world will be no more. There will be only joy, peace, and voices lifted in praise to our Heavenly Father. And surely there will be singing! I want to be in that choir!

May your eyes be set on Heaven. May that be the only direction that matters, not that of climbing a worldly ladder. If you do not know Jesus of whom I write, please read the post and listen to the song from December 25, 2014 entitled “God’s Gift For You.” Open you heart to the God’s plan of salvation for your life.

May the pursuit of our Master result in as upward a gaze and fixation as is witnessed in the photo above. We have the Bible as our training manual. May your most difficult of days fade in light of the home that awaits you in Heaven. Keep your eyes on the prize! To God Be the glory!
